Tonight I talked to Ron Corona the owner of the new HobbyTown USA store. Remember when we used to get together at Riders and worked on our models??
Mr. Corona would like to have KPM to do this in his store. We can talk about this at the January meeting. If yes, I am sure we can work out the times we can do this.

Ron is also more than willing to not only host fliers about the club, but possibly host the meetings too. Talk to him and see if this would work, because the church has been locked up too many times, keeping us out in the cold when the meetings should have been happening!

Tim, I'm sure he would, however, since he is just opening. He needs a chance to get on his feet before we could even dream of moving our meetings there. However, if someone would like to do a Saturday build and bull session there, that might work. In this economy even though he has a corporation behind him, brick and mortor hobby shops are a very risky proposition. Mandie

Karen and I talked to Mr. Corona on Tim's suggestion that we move our monthly club meetings to HobbyTown USA. I agree this is a natural location.
But after our visit, I don't think this would work. There is no sepparate room. The area he has would be up to four 6'x2' tables with seating for at most 18. There would be no room for raffle or show and tell tables.
The location is a wide isle behind the plastic model shelves and the back wall. We can talk about this more at the January Meeting if the members wish.
The location would work for a weekend model building session. We would need to bring something to cover the tables to protect them from paint and glue accidents. Members would need to bring cutting mats too. Two or three tables would give us enough room based on the number of modelers that would come to Riders. Again we can talk more at the January meeting.
Ron would like to have some club activity at the store. That would be a good compliment. And the club members tend to always run out of something while building.

We tabled this at the January meeting.
So I thought I would "reply" to this so we can talk about this more at the February Meeting.

I talked to Mr. Corona of HobbyTown USA today about reserving the space for our fun build sessions at his store.
The first will be February 20th from Noon to 4PM.
I am not sure Karen or I will be able to make it. There is a train show at Essen House we have been planning to go to.
I will be leaving a roll of plastic sheeting for the club to cover the tables so no one gets paint or glue or whatever on the tables.
Please bring your own cutting mats to also protect the tables from cutting accidents. Mr. Corona also has mats for sale.
So come one came as many as can and lets have fun building!

Hey! Finally found my password--nothing like doing taxes to find stuff! I'd like to go this Saturday--2/20. I can't commit til late in the week 'cause this is a busy week, possible late days at work cutting into chores/fun. At least it's a holiday today. Poor retired folk miss out---they don't get holidays any more. If I make it I may bring a sad Monogram B-24 that I think someone used a whole tube of Testor's red to assemble turrets. I'm dismantling parts of it using Testor's liquid. That may draw a small crowd! Might bring some tech manuals to show how to cimpare a model to the real thing. Rich

Karen delivered the roll of plastic to cover the tables for modeling. So we are set.
And we have enough plastic for a bunch meetings!
So come one, come all at noon on Saturday!!!!
It is time to get glue, paint, decals on you, but better the model!

Any suggestions on cutting mats? Do we have to buy one of those ungodly expensive commercial ones, or can we jimmy up something? Also, what's the word on spraying (rattlecan or airbrush?)
